My Hair Story ft. Vikings Salon

My Hair Story ft. Vikings Salon Posted on December 17, 20166 Comments

Hey, guys! I’m sure you’re all aware of my never-ending struggle with my hair now. I’ve been very vocal about it and I’m very glad to share my hair story with you all today. I really wanted to take a step towards a transformation I’m aiming for in my life, the way I look, and my blog. I have so much in store for you guys but for now, let’s just begin with this.

I’ve been using a lot of heat on my hair for years now and that damaged my hair to such an extent that it had become way too dry and frizzy. I was struggling with my hair since a really long time and then a month back, I finally decided to get a keratin treatment done and I’ll not lie, I was very skeptical about it but I’m happy that I still went ahead with it.

This is how my hair looked like –

Now, instead of writing paragraphs and paragraphs, I’m going to make it easy by writing this post in a question and answer form. It’s easier to understand the whole process this way. So, let’s get started!

Keratin (/ˈkɛrətɪn/) is one of a family of fibrous structural proteins. Keratin is the protein that protects epithelial cells from damage or stress. It is the key structural material making up the outer layer of human skin and a very important aspect of our hair which is why taking care of the keratin levels in your hair is crucial.

Using a high-temp flat-iron, the keratin treatment is infused into hair, sealing the cuticle and repairing damage. Hair is stronger, smoother and more manageable. Even though many companies claim that it straightens hair but that is not true. It does reduce frizz really well and that is what gives the illusion of straighter looking hair.

I got my keratin treatment from Vikings Salon in Jangpura. It is an amazing place for anyone who wants to pamper themselves and the folks there are very sweet and helpful. Hygiene is always prioritized and the client’s comfort is placed before anything else(which is awesome) !

Hell yes! I’ve been really impressed with the result and honestly my new year has already been made! However, you should  make sure the products used are genuine and people should be trustworthy.

The process stretches over to 48 hours. The first sitting is a 4 hour-long sitting in which the hair is shampooed twice to open up the cuticles and then the product is applied. That doesn’t take too long. But then the product is kept for a good 20-25 minutes and then blow dried very well.

Then the hair is parted into various small sections and blow dried. After that comes the ironing part. The product releases a lot of fumes while blow drying and ironing so one needs to wear a mask.

Then after 48 hours the hair is washed to remove the product and then ironed again to seal the layer that hair has absorbed. A hair serum is applied to finish it of.

The product used in my treatment is called GK short for Global Keratin. Unlike other products, it doesn’t break the bonds of my hair and just acts as a protective layer on the hair.

It costs Rs. 6,000 for the treatment which lasts for three months. However, it’s advised to use their shampoo and conditioner to make the keratin stay for longer than 3 months and that would cost Rs. 2,480 . Being me, I did my first hair wash after the treatment with my regular shampoo and it didn’t get back to dry and frizzy which is great. Now, I can confidently get those products and see for myself. (will keep you guys updated 🙂 )

This is the result.

My hair aren’t straight now but the frizz has gone ! My hair feels rally soft and smooth and is much more manageable now. I held the post for a week after the treatment to give an honest review and so here it is. I still have split ends but I’ll get them removed soon.

My experience there was very pleasant . The folks there are really helpful, polite, and efficient. As I mentioned earlier, the client’s satisfaction is placed first and hygiene is always kept in mind. It’s in 428/2 ,Hospital Road, Jangpura and is pretty convenient to find when approached from Mathura Road. The interior is full of vintage pieces which basically makes the experience even more enjoyable. I definitely recommend it to every one who is looking forward to getting this hair(or any other) treatment done.

To anyone facing the same problem , I would definitely recommend a keratin treatment! The owner Vikram Dua is always there to help which makes the experience even more personal.

That is it for this post. Hope you guys liked it. Make sure you tell me your views on it in the comment section below or send me a personal message on my  Instagram  or Facebook page. I love hearing from you guys! You can find Vikings Salon on Instagram.

Lots of love and outfits,

  1. Not trying to sound cheap but Rs 6k + Rs 2.5k and 4 hours!
I can barely wait more than 10 min to cut my hair and feel guilty paying more than Rs 100 😬

    1. Haha , Ning! This is a treatment which takes time according tot he length and volume of your hair which I have in abundance. 😛 Hence, the amount of time and money 😛 I think it’s worth it hahha

      1. hehe.. I understand. I used to have a long pony tail until recently. I did like how I get noticed easily in the crowd but it comes at a cost. Maintaining long hair and braiding is a “tough job” 😛
