OlaPlex – First Impression and Review
Being a 20 year old with an active social life and a lazy attitude towards hair care is not a very pleasant situation. My hair has always been dry but in the past few years, with the application of heat and chemicals, my hair has gone for a toll. Now, a number of people recommend a lot of treatments and products for my hair (given that they’re pretty long and voluminous) suggesting how they would improve with the usage of even more chemicals. I’ve always stayed away from all of that but in the recent months, I actually started trying out a few services on my own. One of them is the OLAPLEX treatment.
Now, what is OLAPLEX?
“Olaplex is a bond multiplier containing a single active ingredient, Bis-Aminopropyl Diglycol Dimaleate. Olaplex works by finding single sulfur hydrogen bonds and cross linking them back together to form disulfide bonds before, during and after services. Disulfide bonds are broken via chemical, thermal, and mechanical processes.
Olaplex is the only product of its kind with 8 worldwide patents publishing soon. Olaplex is free of silicone, sulfates, phthalates, DEA, aldehydes, and is never tested on animals.”
Sounded like a really interesting concept to me. I would like to add that apparently Kim Kardashion has used this treatment on her hair before she got her beach blonde hair! (now that’s interesting!) I was invited to the Toni & Guy salon in GK 2, M block market to get an OlaPlex treatment done on my hair.
I had washed my hair the very morning but didn’t have to comb them at all. To add to it, I traveled in an auto on my way to the salon so my hair was a complete mess by the time I reached. Before the treatment, I got my hair shampooed and then the first layer was put on it. It was applied with a brush and was kept to soak in for about 10-15 minutes.
Then there was second layer that was applied on my hair which sat on for 20 minutes and then I again got a shampoo done. After the blow dry, I felt an instant change in my hair. No, they weren’t magically transformed into something unbelievable but the texture of my hair certainly felt better. They felt a lot softer and smoother, as if a layer of something(dirt/pollution/chemicals/all of them) had been removed.
(had the most fun with my best girl, Vasudha from thevogueaholic.com)
The treatment is supposed to work on hair that has been subject to a lot of chemicals or before going for a hair coloring session (which in my case isn’t happening any time soon) , so I can’t really talk a lot about it. What I’ve gathered from my personal experience is that it made a difference to my hair and now my hair feels healthier and softer(note : it’s been more than a week since the treatment). I would recommend the service to someone whose hair has been subject to a lot of chemical treatments/colors and I think it would be really helpful for them.
I had a very pleasant experience at the salon and a good result from the treatment. Definitely worth a try!
That is all for this post. I hope this helps. For any more queries you can send me a personal message on my Instagram or Facebook page. We can also talk on the comment section below. I love hearing from you guys!
